FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Spark City Team #3634 Grades 9th-12th

`

Mon,Wed,Thu Grades: 9th to 12th

Description

FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Spark City Team #3634 is a Community-Based Team. Between September and December Students will meet every Thursday from 5:30pm to 8pm and then starting in January to March Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays 5:30pm to 8pm and Saturdays 10am to 2pm. Students should expect to have the ability to have a committment and dedication to the team by having a desire and taking initiative to learn and use skills.

Combining the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. We call FIRST Robotics Competition the ultimate Sport for the Mind. High-school student participants call it “the hardest fun you’ll ever have.”

Under strict rules, limited time and resources, teams of students are challenged to raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors. It’s as close to real-world engineering as a student can get. Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team. Each season ends with an exciting FIRST Championship.

The FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) offers students a wide range of skills across various disciplines. Here are some key skills that students typically learn:

Technical Skills

  1. Mechanical Engineering: Designing, building, and maintaining robots using tools and machinery.
  2. Electrical Engineering: Understanding wiring, circuit design, and electronics involved in robot construction.
  3. Programming: Writing and debugging code for robot control using languages such as Java, C++, or Python.
  4. CAD Design: Using Computer-Aided Design software to create detailed 3D models of robot components.
  5. Sensor Integration: Implementing and utilizing sensors for robot navigation and task performance.

Soft Skills

  1. Teamwork: Collaborating effectively with peers to achieve common goals.
  2. Communication: Presenting ideas clearly, both in writing and verbally, to team members, judges, and sponsors.
  3. Problem-Solving: Identifying issues and developing innovative solutions under time constraints.
