Monday, February 16

STEAM: Music & Video Production

📍 SoundLab, 60 Skinner Street, Brockton, MA

Description:

Youth begin February Vacation with an immersive introduction to music and video production in a professional studio setting. Participants explore sound engineering basics, beat-making, recording techniques, and collaborative music creation. This hands-on experience exposes students to creative technology careers while strengthening teamwork, creativity, and confidence.

Videography & Photography with MediaLab

📍 MediaLab, 60 Skinner Street, Brockton, MA

Description:

Students engage in hands-on videography and photography, learning camera operation, framing, lighting, and visual storytelling. Youth develop media literacy skills and create original visual content while exploring career pathways in digital media, film, and communications.

STEAM & Finance Day

Financial Literacy with Coach Bri Nichols

Description:

An interactive financial literacy workshop focused on budgeting, saving, goal-setting, and understanding money management. Youth learn practical financial skills that support independence, entrepreneurship, and long-term success.

Amazon Future Engineers

🕐 1:15 PM – 2:45 PM

📍 Brockton Community Access (BCA), Brockton, MA

Through Amazon Future Engineers, students explore foundational concepts in technology and engineering. Activities emphasize problem-solving, innovation, and exposure to STEM career pathways, helping youth connect classroom learning to real-world applications.

Description:

Youth explore television and broadcast media production, learning about on-camera performance, behind-the-scenes operations, and storytelling for public audiences.

Wednesday, February 18

Biogen Field Trip

🕣 8:15 AM – 2:15 PM

📍 Off-site (Biogen Facility)

Description:

Students participate in a STEM-focused field trip to Biogen, gaining hands-on exposure to biotechnology, laboratory environments, and careers in science and engineering. This experience broadens students’ understanding of real-world STEM professions and pathways beyond the classroom.

Biogen Itinerary:

• 9:30-10a.m. Arrival at facility
• 10:00-10:30 a.m. | Lab safety, introduction to Biogen
• 10:30a.m. -12 p.m. | Lab experiment: The Purity of GrapeX
• 12 - 12:30 p.m. | Clean up
• 12:30 - 1 p.m. | Lunch
