EE Just Marine Science Camp Program


The EE Just Marine Science Program in Monterey, California, offers a transformative opportunity. Collaborating with the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) and other esteemed institutions, we are empowering youth of color with an immersive experience in ocean science, research, engineering, and technology.


PROGRAM MISSION

Our mission is to reveal the dynamic intersection of ocean science, research, technology, and engineering to underrepresented youth. Through hands-on interactions with leading scientists, engineers, and educators, we aim to inspire and nurture career aspirations in these vital fields, highlighting the significance of diversity in scientific inquiry and innovation.


COLLABORATIVE PARTNERSHIPS

Our esteemed partners, including Stanford University’s Hopkins Marine Station, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, UC Santa Cruz, and California State University Monterey Bay, contribute to creating a week-long, in-depth experience.


PROGRAM IMPACT

Guided by Ocean Explorer and STEAM Education Professional, Dr. Dijanna Figueroa, the EE Just Marine Science Program in Monterey Bay not only educates but also empowers. We focus on the intersection of ocean science, technology, engineering, and storytelling through the lens of belonging, diversity, inclusion, and equity. This approach ensures that our participants gain not only knowledge and skills but also a sense of community and purpose.


PROGRAM ITINERARY HIGHLIGHTS

Students will live on the campus of CSU Monterey Bay and will explore various renowned facilities, including MBARI, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and UC Santa Cruz, gaining hands-on experience and insights into the world of marine science and technology.
