Job Description: The Art Lab position is designed for an individual passionate about fostering creativity and artistic expression in a dynamic environment. The role will involve leading, coordinating, or participating in hands-on art workshops, assisting with art exhibitions, and supporting community outreach and educational initiatives. This position is an exciting opportunity for those interested in both creating art and engaging with the local community through artistic endeavors.


Key Responsibilities:


Facilitate Art Classes and Workshops:

  • Develop and lead interactive art lessons for various age groups, including children, adults, and seniors.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship in techniques ranging from painting and drawing to digital media or sculpture.
  • Customize classes based on the interests and skill levels of participants.

Art Lab Coordination:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the art lab space.
  • Manage materials, equipment, and inventory to ensure the smooth operation of workshops.
  • Set up and clean up art spaces before and after classes or events.

Community Engagement:

  • Organize art-related events, exhibitions, and collaborations within the local community.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local artists, schools, and community groups to expand outreach programs.
  • Promote art-making as a tool for community engagement, healing, and expression.

Art Creation and Exploration:

  • Create your artwork, participating in exhibitions and/or public art projects.
  • Encourage participants to experiment with various media and processes, exploring both traditional and contemporary forms of art.

Administrative Support:

  • Assist in the planning and coordination of events, exhibitions, and programs.
  • Help with event promotion through social media, local outreach, or flyers.
  • Maintain records of attendance, materials used, and other logistical data as required.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with fellow artists, educators, and community partners to develop new programming.
  • Actively participate in team meetings to share ideas and contribute to the vision of the art lab space.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, Art History, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: Prior experience facilitating art workshops or teaching in a community or educational setting is preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Strong artistic skills in one or more art forms (e.g., painting, sculpture, photography, digital media).
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people and facilitate inclusive, hands-on learning environments.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Other Requirements:
  • A portfolio of personal artwork or teaching experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Enthusiasm for community building through the arts.

Working Conditions:

  • Flexible hours, with some evenings and weekends required.
  • Ability to work in a studio environment and handle materials.
  • Occasional travel for community outreach or exhibitions.

Compensation:

  • Based on experience and qualifications.

Ends: Sunday, August 31, 2025

We will meet from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM every Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, & Fri starting on 7/1/2025 and ending on 8/31/2025

We will not meet on the following dates: 7/4/2025
