Within the Community Health Improvement department, the Career Pathways Program offers.

structured early career exploration and opportunities for youth and young adults interested in

the field of healthcare. We are continuing to build and adjust this list (you may not get your

desired department based on various factors).

Opportunities

Radiology, Cambridge Hospital 1492 Cambridge St. First floor, Medical Imaging i.e

X-ray, MRI, CT, Ultrasound, and more

(Monday through Friday)

● Reception, Tech Aide (escort, transport, etc)

● Student must be willing to follow instructions re safety issues - ie when they can't enter a

room etc

Inpatient psychiatry, (Adults and Child/Adolescent) Cambridge Hospital

(Monday through Friday)

● Unit paperwork

● Ordering supplies

● Answering the phone, greeter

Perioperative Services, made up of several departments' pre-admission testing and

PACU Cambridge Hospital 3rd floor

(Mon-Fri) 7am-3pm

● Secretarial type work

● Answering phones

● Putting charts together

Specialized Sexual Health Clinic: Cambridge Hospital/Zinberg Clinic

(Tuesday ONLY 8:30AM to 4:30PM)

CHA provides a coordinated approach to HIV that brings together doctors and public health

experts to meet patient and community needs in both prevention and treatment and care of HIV.

● Attend various supervision meetings which address patient needs

● Database management assistance with medical case management

● Food Pantry assistance

Dept. of Medicine, Cambridge Hospital

(Mon-Fri 830am-5pm)

The Department of Medicine has many branches. All the medical specialties, Hospitalist

Service, Cardiopulmonary Lab, and Geriatrics.

● Scanning large files into drive

● Filling

● Mail duty, etc.

Information Desk 1493 Cambridge St, Cambridge MA

(Mon-Fri 8am-12pm)

Welcoming and providing information to patients, visitors and staff

● Welcome patients/visitors/staff upon entering our premises

● Provide a new surgical mask to patients and visitors

● Implement CHA visitor’s policy

● Provide information to patients and visitors contingent to HIPAA regulations.

● Answer phone calls to provide information or to direct to the appropriate Departments

anyone who has an inquiry

● Help patients and visitors with disability reach their destination inside of CHA • Validate

patients and visitors parking tickets

● Work collaboratively with the unit secretaries to provide the best experience of care to all

patients and visitors

Interpreter Services and Translation Services- 350 Main St. Malden Commerce

Place 4th floor 4141X LEP Patient Communities via three different modalities

Phone, video, and Face to Face

(Monday-Friday 9am-5pm)

● Assist MAPS Leadership with special project

● Assist with tasks such filing and scanning of documents

● Assist with other tasks as assigned with the goal of helping the student to acquire new

skills.

Somerville Endoscopy, Endoscopy unit

Between 7a-3p, can be shorter hours

● Assisting patients to their vehicles

● Checking vital signs

● Shadowing opportunities
