Position Summary

 

City of Everett’s Energy Advocate: 20 hrs. per week

 

The Energy Advocate will support Everett’s participation in the Mass Save Community First Partnership (CFP) program under the guidance of senior staff members. The CFP is a community outreach program administered by our local gas and electric providers, National Grid (“Mass Save Program Sponsors”), with a goal to increase participation in Mass Save energy efficiency programs, especially among renters, landlords, moderate income households, language-isolated households, and small businesses.

The Energy Advocate will foster community engagement, energy efficiency program enrollment, and an increased knowledge base about Mass Save programs. This role is an exciting opportunity for an organized, people-oriented individual interested in community engagement and environmental issues, providing an opportunity to learn about energy efficiency programs and contribute to local initiatives.

 

 

Duties & Responsibilities

·        Assist in engaging residents and small businesses to increase awareness and participation in Mass Save energy efficiency programs among priority groups.

·        Support public engagement activities alongside senior staff members, such as assisting in events, presentations, and local media outreach.

·        Provide assistance to customers by answering general inquiries about energy efficiency programs and directing them to appropriate resources.

·        Assist in the coordination of community-based initiatives and events aimed at promoting energy efficiency and sustainability.

·        Help maintain records and data related to outreach efforts and program participation.

·        Participate in meetings and training sessions to learn about energy efficiency programs and contribute to team discussions.

·        Collaborate with team members to identify creative outreach and marketing approaches suitable for younger audiences.

·        Collect feedback from community members through surveys and informal discussions to improve outreach strategies.

·        Assist in tracking program participation barriers and identifying potential solutions under the supervision of senior staff.

·        Support the administration of surveys and feedback tools to gather insights from program participants.

·        Work collaboratively with other team members, including senior staff, to achieve program goals and deliverables.

Qualifications:

·        Interest in environmental issues and commitment to promoting energy efficiency.

·        Strong communication skills and ability to engage with diverse audiences.

·        Basic computer skills and willingness to learn how to use designated software for data input.

·        Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

·        Creativity and enthusiasm for developing innovative outreach strategies.

·        Willingness to attend meetings and training sessions as required.

·        Respect for diversity and inclusion in all aspects of the work.
