Job Summary:

The EPD Jr. Academy is an educational program designed to engage young people from Everett with law enforcement and community service while fostering leadership, responsibility, and a positive relationship with the police department. The role of the Program Coordinator, Instructor, or Youth Mentor is to facilitate and support the Junior Academy's activities, ensure a safe and educational environment, and guide young participants in their personal and professional development.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Program Development & Coordination: Help design and organize the curriculum and activities for the EPD Jr. Academy, including law enforcement education, team-building exercises, physical fitness activities, and leadership training.
  • Safety & Supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during academy activities. Supervise young people during drills, training exercises, field trips, and other events.
  • Community Engagement: Promote positive interactions between young people and law enforcement officers. Encourage participants to develop leadership skills, social responsibility, and a greater understanding of their role in the community.
  • Event Planning: Organize and execute special events, such as graduation ceremonies, field trips, or guest speaker presentations. Support and manage logistics for these events.
  • Behavior Management: Manage and address any behavioral concerns in a proactive and professional manner, ensuring a respectful and positive learning environment.
  • Communication: Serve as a liaison between parents, participants, and the Everett Police Department, providing updates on the program’s progress and addressing any concerns. Maintain regular communication with community stakeholders.
  • Data Tracking & Reporting: Maintain records of attendance, performance, and behavioral reports. Report on program outcomes and make recommendations for program improvements.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with young people
  • Leadership abilities, with a focus on creating a positive, structured, and engaging environment
  • Ability to develop lesson plans and lead group activities
  • Knowledge of basic law enforcement practices and community engagement strategies
  • Ability to handle conflicts or behavioral issues calmly and professionally
  • Proficiency with basic office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite)

Work Environment:

  • The position may involve evening and weekend hours depending on the schedule of the Junior Academy’s programs and events.
  • Interaction with a wide range of individuals, including young participants, their families, law enforcement professionals, and community members.

Ends: Saturday, August 30, 2025

We will meet from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM every Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, & Fri starting on 7/1/2025 and ending on 8/30/2025

We will not meet on the following dates: 7/4/2025
