What to Expect

This easy to moderate 2-mile trek has a modest 300 ft elevation gain. You’ll walk through rocky desert terrain illuminated by the full moon, with interpretive naturalists sharing insights about creatures guided by the moon and lunar features visible that night

The event is designed for hiking enthusiasts, scorpion seekers, and wildlife lovers, and participants are encouraged to bring red lights and binoculars to enhance the experience

Tips for Attending

  • Arrive early to meet at the South Oak Creek Trailhead.
  • Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and dress in layers for night temperatures.
  • Bring red flashlights to preserve night vision and avoid disturbing wildlife.
  • Binoculars can help spot nocturnal animals, including scorpions.
  • Follow all safety and conservation guidelines from the host and local agencies.
