Description
Thank you for your interest in 2025 programming. We are excited to have you join us! Confident S.O.L.E. is a non profit organization in Kalamazoo serving middle and high school girls. Our mission is to improve these girls’ self perception by teaching them essential skills in the areas of self confidence, academic success, business and leadership, public presentation, financial management, community and diversity. Below you will see what to expect in 2024 programming.
- Enrichment Workshops; workshops will take place every other week. Saturday workshops will be offered once a month throughout the year and provide our young ladies with the opportunity to build skills that will make them more confident and help them thrive. Mondays 6pm-7:30pm (Middle School) and Wednesdays 6pm-7:30pm (High School) . Saturday workshops are scheduled from 10am-1pm. All workshops will be held at 4000 Portage St. Kalamazoo, MI 49001. Suite 103
- Academic accountability; Progress report give students an overview of their overall performance in a semester or over an academic year. This report enables students to understand their shortcomings and strengths and work on their weaknesses to excel in academics. We will request these every other week.
- Family Engagement; we will have two family engagement opportunities. Parent involvement leads to positive benefits for students, parents, and youth programming, including improved academic performance and improved parent-staff relationships.
- Mentorship; scholars will have an opportunity to be mentored by a Professional, Community Leader, College Student, Confident S.O.L.E. Board Member, Entrepreneur, Creative, Author, or Confident S.O.L.E. Executive Director.
- Community Engagement; we encourage our scholars to get involved in other community organization activities as this will help them make better decisions. Being exposed to other world issues outside of what's taught in Confident S.O.L.E. will make them better citizens.
- Podcasting; podcasting opportunities will be available every other week in collaboration with Kalamazoo Youth Development Network. Youth voice is important as it supports young people to have a positive impact and affect change in their communities.
- Service Learning; scholars will have two service learning opportunities to get involved in. Volunteering can provide a healthy boost to your self-confidence, self-esteem, and life satisfaction.
- Leaders in Training (LIT); Our Leader in Training (LIT) program provides a space for high school girls to begin developing leadership skills. Our LIT team is made up of girls who have been involved in our other
- programs and have begun to develop the social and emotional skills to be a confident leader. Applications for this program open February 2, 2024.
- College Tours; we host Midwest College tour (Middle School) and HBCU Tours (High School). Visiting different campuses is an essential step in your college search process. Not only will it help you become familiar with the colleges you're most interested in, but it will also help you get a better understanding of what types of schools are the best fit for your unique needs. Application Deadline TBD
- Summer Programming; summer programming is available to middle school scholars ONLY. July 1st-July 31st; Monday & Wednesdays 8:30am-1pm
