Math is important because it provides essential life skills for everyday tasks like budgeting and cooking, develops logical thinking and problem-solving abilities, enables financial literacy and responsible decision-making, and serves as the fundamental language for scientific innovation and technological advancement. A strong foundation in math also improves memory, concentration, and academic success, opening doors to a wider range of career opportunities in fields from engineering to data analysis. My aim is to support your child in improving their math skills. I will be utilizing a math program called Math Recovery. Math Recovery helps students by providing personalized, one-on-one and small group intervention to address specific gaps and misconceptions in number sense and operations, improving their foundational math skills and building confidence for advanced learning. The program identifies a student's current understanding, uses focused, research-based strategies to address their individual needs, and provides ongoing assessment to ensure progress and help them catch up with their peers.
The math after-school program will take place from October 13, 2025 – May 20, 2026, on Mondays, and every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month from 4:00 PM to 5:45 PM. Students must be picked up no later than 6:00 PM in the gymnasium.
