Excellence Through Opportunity (ETO) in partnership with University of the District of Columbia, Workforce Development Lifelong Learning Division (UDC-WDLL), Career Services unit have collaborated to establish a workforce preparedness and career development training for youth in grades 9-12. This program will offer participants 360 hours of workforce development training for high need industries including soft skills training. UDC-WDLL will administer the longest standing evidence-based Strong Interest Inventory Assessment (SII) to support participants’ development of an occupational self-concept.
A key component of the SII allows individuals to identify their work personality by exploring their primary motivations to work across the following six broad categories: realistic, artistic, investigative, social enterprising, and conventional. UDC-WDLL will also provide course training in Customer Service (NRF, CSS)-51 Hours.
Upon successful completion of the program, participants will earn a national industry-recognized certification in Customer Service that reflects their mastery of customer service and sales skills, including the customer life cycle, developing effective strategies to engage customers, assessing customer needs, and closing sales. This certification training provides successful students with the fundamentals of customer service knowledge and skills, which will be transferrable across industries, fields, and occupations. This course aligns with the best work readiness practices for building resumes and navigating job searches.
