Description

Overview:

EXP supported High Schools are inviting professionals to serve as guest speakers through EXP to help students (ages 14–18) explore future careers and personal development paths. Speakers share real-world insights, stories, and lessons from their own career journeys to inspire and inform students.


Speaker Role & Content:

  • Deliver a 30-minute presentation.
  • Introduce yourself, your role, your company, and your background.
  • Share your career path, challenges, and what influenced your journey.
  • Discuss your daily responsibilities, necessary education/training, and career skills.
  • Optional: Talk about salary ranges and how education/experience ties into pay.

Tips for a Strong Presentation:

  • Be real, relatable, and authentic.
  • Keep language simple and ideas heartfelt.
  • Use visuals, stories, workplace tours, or props when possible.
  • Include personal stories, early job experiences, and lessons learned.


Student Interests:

Students are especially interested in:

  • Career pathways and growth
  • Salary expectations
  • Education requirements
  • Mistakes made and lessons learned
  • Advice from professionals

Goal:

Inspire and empower students by offering them a glimpse into the real world of work and helping them begin to map out their own paths to success.
