Description

Trying out for the soccer team in middle school is an exciting experience, filled with the chance to meet new friends and improve your skills. During the tryouts, you’ll likely participate in drills to test your basic soccer abilities, like dribbling, passing, shooting, and ball control. Coaches also pay attention to how well you can work with others, as soccer is all about teamwork. Whether you’re playing offense or defense, showing that you can communicate and stay focused during drills and scrimmages will help you stand out. It’s important to stay positive, stay active, and show that you’re willing to learn and grow. Most of all, have fun with it—tryouts are a chance to enjoy the game and show the coaches what you can bring to the team!

All players must meet the eligibility requirements in order to tryout.

  • Physical Examination
  • All scholars must have a physical examination on file in order to be eligible to participate in a sport. It is of the utmost importance that all scholars are physically fit to compete in school athletics. Please note that all examinations must be completed after April 1st of the preceding year and are not valid after 12 months.
  • Academics
  • It is expected that all scholars will maintain passing grades in all classes. The determination of academic eligibility will be made at the conclusion of each quarter. For those engaged in fall sports, eligibility will be based on the previous year’s quarter 4 report card. Any scholar who receives a grade of D or F in any class at the end of a quarter will be deemed academically ineligible for the following quarter.
  • Attendance
  • In order to be eligible for participation in sports, scholars are expected to maintain a 90% attendance rate. The eligibility for attendance will be determined at the end of each quarter. For those participating in fall sports, eligibility is based upon the previous year’s quarter 4 attendance. Should attendance fall below 90% during the season, the scholar will be deemed ineligible for the remainder of the season.
  • Student Conduct
  • All scholars are expected to maintain satisfactory conduct in all classes. Conduct eligibility will be determined at the end of each quarter. For fall sports, eligibility is based upon the previous year’s quarter 4 behavior. Should a scholar receive one or more suspensions, they will be placed on ineligibility for the following quarter. Should a student receive a suspension or display unsatisfactory conduct during the season, they will be placed on a two-week probation period or be ineligible for the team. The coach, school administration, and Athletic Director will determine the consequences for unsatisfactory conduct.
