Description
Ms. Jackie Becerra, Intervention Specialist, will be providing ELD intervention and instruction in small group settings for students who are identified as English Learners to increase and improve outcomes. This class is for students who have been recommended for extra support. Ms. Jackie will be using district adopted curriculum to prepare students for the ELPAC state assessment.
The English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC) is a state-mandated test for English learner (EL) students in California to measure their English language proficiency. There are two main components: the Initial ELPAC to identify new English learners and the Summative ELPAC to assess progress and determine readiness for reclassification. (California Dept. of Education)
Parents are encouraged to read with students for 30 minutes daily. Also talking and asking students about their day helps them to recall information in a fun and engaging way to help students to apply the information learned in school in their daily lives.
