Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Sunnyside Dreamz Volunteers

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” - 1 Peter 4:10-11


Volunteer Roles and Opportunities:

Program Assistance

  • Assist with the execution of programming, including setup and breakdown.
  • Tasks include registration, food serving, leading small groups, group discussions, and activities.

Food Sponsorship

  • Seek donations, prepare, and provide hot meals for programming events.

Discipleship Driver

  • Transport students safely to and from events.
  • Submit a copy of your driver’s license and insurance for approval.

Administrative Duties

  • Support leadership with administrative tasks to ensure smooth program operations.


General Expectations:

Scheduling

  • Please arrive 20–30 minutes before the event for volunteer huddles, updates, prayer time, and preparation.
  • Attend monthly volunteer training sessions to think, discuss, learn, and pray.
  • Please notify at least two hours before an event if unable to attend.


Professionalism and Boundaries

  • Respect personal boundaries; check before initiating physical contact such as hugs or handshakes.
  • Regular communication with leadership and fellow volunteers.
  • Avoid public displays of affection.
  • Avoid making promises you cannot fulfill.


Mentorship Expectations:

Lead Mentors

  • Develop a four-week curriculum reflecting organizational themes.
  • Submit the curriculum to active mentors a week in advance for review and preparation.
  • Communicate plans, expectations, and concerns with leadership weekly.

One-on-One Mentors

  • Submit and sign a Volunteer Transportation Form to transport mentees.
  • Maintain consistent communication with the mentee’s parent/guardian.
  • Connect with your mentee at least once weekly and plan to meet outside of programming at least once monthly.
  • Ensure all mentees have a signed Hope for Youth permission slip.

 

Our ultimate goal for the mentoring program is to help the youth in our community build a relationship with Jesus, equip them to use their gifts positively, and support their growth into young men and women prepared to fulfill God’s purpose for their lives.

We will meet from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM every Tue, & Wed starting on 1/7/2025 and ending on 12/29/2029
