Enrichment, Intervention & Expanded Learning Opportunities

The 2026–2027 Beyond the Classroom Program is excited to offer a variety of Enrichment, Intervention, and XL (Expanded Learning) opportunities for students in TK–5th grade!

Our goal is to provide students with engaging opportunities to learn, create, explore, grow, and have fun beyond the regular school day.

👩‍🏫 LEARN FROM OUR HERK BOURIS STAFF

Many of our enrichment and intervention classes are taught by Herk Bouris certificated and classified staff members who bring their knowledge, talents, and passions directly to our students.

These classes provide students with opportunities to receive additional academic support while also exploring interests, developing new skills, and discovering new talents.

📅 REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Registration for most enrichment and intervention classes will begin during the second week of September.

📌 Important: Registration dates, grade levels, schedules, locations, and participation requirements may vary by activity.

Families are encouraged to review the individual activity information carefully for specific registration details and requirements.

Beyond the Classroom | Herk Bouris Elementary School


🌟 LET'S GET HEALTHY, ACTIVE & STRONG!

Healthy Eating & Fitness is a fun, interactive Beyond the Classroom enrichment class designed to help students develop healthy habits, make smart food choices, and discover fun ways to stay active!

Students will learn that taking care of their bodies can be fun, delicious, and exciting! Through age-appropriate activities, games, movement, hands-on learning, and healthy food experiences, students will explore how the foods they eat and the activities they participate in can help their bodies grow, learn, play, and feel their best.


🍓 TASTE, EXPLORE & DISCOVER!

One of the most exciting parts of the class will be the opportunity for students to sample a variety of healthy snacks and foods!

Students will have opportunities to taste and explore different nutritious foods while learning about healthy choices, balanced eating, and the importance of trying new foods. Who knows? Students may even discover a new healthy favorite!


🥕 WHAT WILL STUDENTS EXPLORE?

Students will participate in fun, age-appropriate activities such as:

  • 🍎 Learning about nutritious foods and balanced meals
  • 🥦 Exploring fruits, vegetables, and other healthy food choices
  • 🍓 Sampling and trying a variety of healthy snacks
  • 💧 Learning about the importance of hydration
  • 🏃 Participating in fun fitness activities and movement games
  • 💪 Learning how exercise helps our bodies stay strong and healthy
  • 🧠 Exploring the connection between healthy choices and how we feel
  • 🍽️ Learning how to make smart choices when choosing foods
  • 🎯 Setting age-appropriate healthy habits and fitness goals

Herk Bouris Elementary School Teacher

Students will enjoy learning from Mrs. Hagen, one of our amazing Herk Bouris Elementary teachers! Mrs. Hagen will create a fun, positive, and engaging environment where students can learn about healthy living, try new foods, get active, and have fun with their classmates.

Students will be escorted to Herk Hall for supper immediately following dismissal at 2:19 PM. Students will be served supper from 2:20-2:40 PM. Students will be escorted to their designated classes at 2:40 PM. This class meets from 2:45 to 3:45 PM. Students will be escorted through the main/front lobby doors between 3:45 and 4 PM.
