Global Flavors: A Multi-Cultural Cooking and Nutrition Adventure

Description


Nutrition Service Assistants lead 4-week classes highlighting Global Flavors from Mexico, Japan, the Mediterranean, India, and the Philippines.

  • Each week, students “travel” to a different country, learn about its culture, participate in a team activity, and prepare a side dish inspired by that country.
  • The side dish is then paired with a culturally relevant entrée prepared by our Nutrition Services team.
  • On the last day of class, a special meal is prepared by Nutrition Services in celebration of students completing the 4-week cycle.

Cooking Class Registration & Attendance Instructions

Students who are not currently enrolled full-time in the Beyond the Classroom (BTC) Program must check in at the front entrance of the school by 3:40 PM. BTC staff will escort students to the cafeteria, where the cooking class will take place from 3:45–4:45 PM.

If you are interested in having your child remain after school on Tuesdays and participate in the BTC program prior to the cooking class, please contact Regina Clausell at regina.clausell@menifeeusd.org or 951-723-3069 for additional information.

Students who stay after school with BTC will:

  • Receive a supper meal at 2:20 PM
  • Participate in a selected BTC enrichment class from 2:45–3:45 PM
  • Be escorted to the cafeteria at 3:45 PM for the cooking class
