Description
The Mighty Quills Program gives students the opportunity to participate in an intensive writing program in a safe space. Scholars discuss and write about topics that are important to their world and community and express themselves through poetry, personal narrative, persuasive essays, and short plays. At the end of the year, selected plays and pieces are read aloud for the community as part of our “Power of the Pen” event in Hunts Point.
Mighty Quills champions self-expression, increases self-confidence, creates community, and strengthens literacy skills necessary for their next steps toward a college and/or career.
