Description
Program Overview
The “AI For All Y’all” Senior Technology Training Series is a community-driven initiative developed by the IGL Foundation to empower senior citizens with the knowledge and tools they need to safely and confidently navigate an increasingly digital world. Designed specifically for adults aged 60 and older (however, all are welcome to attend!), this program focuses on helping seniors build foundational digital literacy, understand artificial intelligence (AI), and protect themselves against common digital threats.
This free introductory class serves as the gateway to the full series of educational sessions, offering a gentle, patient, and interactive introduction to today’s technology landscape. The course is structured to meet seniors where they are, recognizing the diverse range of familiarity and comfort they may have with smartphones, computers, and the internet.
AI For All Y’all is not just about introducing new technologies—it’s about restoring independence, protecting dignity, and ensuring that no generation is left behind as society rapidly shifts toward digital-first systems.
Background and Need
Technology plays an essential role in nearly every area of life, from accessing healthcare and managing personal finances to maintaining communication with loved ones. However, senior citizens across Louisiana and beyond face significant barriers to digital access and understanding, including:
- Difficulty using smartphones and navigating apps
- Lack of access to or familiarity with laptops and tablets
- Fear or confusion about artificial intelligence and emerging tech
- Exposure to scam calls, phishing emails, and AI-generated fraud
- Inability to access online services such as Medicare, Social Security, and prescription management portals
These barriers don’t just cause frustration—they can result in missed benefits, compromised personal information, and social isolation.
The AI For All Y’all program was created in response to this growing digital divide. We believe every senior deserves to live with confidence, security, and the ability to access essential services without fear or confusion.
