Description

Zah! Jazz Power Initiative’s advanced youth ensemble, powerhouse young artists, ages 11 to 18, have trained with JPI for several years in voice, movement, and theatre under the direction of Dr. Eli Yamin alongside exceptional faculty including Kena Onyejekwe, Antoinette Montague, and inspiring guest artists.

Zah! doesn’t just study the music, they live it on some of New York’s most iconic stages, from Dizzy’s Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center to the National Jazz Museum in Harlem, United Palace, SummerStage, and more. They honor the legacies of Robert Johnson, Big Mama Thornton, Celia Cruz, Duke Ellington, and Ella Fitzgerald, while also bringing original jazz and blues works to life with heart, power, and joy.
