Description

Everyone has a role to play when taking care of the planet, especially with everyday choices. This week, students will learn about the 3 R’s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), to encourage healthier habits to protect the environment. They will use the second half of the week to apply this knowledge through art activities that encourage recycling, upcycling, and creativity.

Monday – The 3 R’s (June 8th 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm)

  • In order to engage in healthier habits, students need to understand what the 3 R’s (Reduce, Reuse Recycle) mean and their importance. Students will be able to distinguish between the three practices and how to apply it to their daily lives.

Tuesday – Upcycling (June 9th 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm)

  • This session will help introduce students to creative upcycling projects. They will be able to take what they learned about the 3 R’s and utilize everyday materials to create new, artistic items. Students will not only learn about upcycling as a hobby but as a skill to continue on their own time. Students will be introduced to a range of art projects and choose what they want to work on for the rest of the week.

Wednesday – Art Day (June 10th 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm)

  • Students will put the 3 R’s into action and let their creativity flow! Students will create original artwork with everyday and recycled materials, utilizing what they have learned about reducing, reusing, and recycling in fun ways

Thursday – Art Day (June 11th 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm)

  • Students will put the 3 R’s into action and let their creativity flow! Students will create original artwork with everyday and recycled materials, utilizing what they have learned about reducing, reusing, and recycling in fun ways.

Friday – Lorax Watch Party (June 12th 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm)

  • After a long week of learning about the 3 R’s and healthier, creative habits to protect the planet, participants will be invited to our Lorax Watch Party with food and drinks. If time allows, the session will close off with some quick games/activities.
