Description
Interested in using photography to tell the stories of your community?Join us for a 5 part workshop series as we follow the 2026 World Cup--and all that it entails.
Las Fotos Project and local soccer publication Soccer Freaks are teaming up to create a community scrapbook documenting Los Angeles’ off-the-field World Cup experience through photography, interviews, essays, and personal reflections.
Taking place across the United States, Mexico, and Canada from June through July, the tournament will bring billions of viewers and global attention not just to the game itself, but to the political, cultural, and social realities surrounding the communities that host it.
The project will also explore the contradictions surrounding the modern World Cup — from corruption, exploitation, and nationalism to the larger systems tied to global sporting events — while still making space for the joy, beauty, chaos, and collective energy that make football so meaningful around the world.
Through collaborative workshops, you’ll develop your own creative point of view and turn it into photo essays, interviews, writing, and visual storytelling exploring how the World Cup shapes local communities, fan culture, and everyday life across LA. Participants will have their work published online and in a collaborative zine.
Coverage will unfold in real time throughout the tournament and participants will have their work published online and in a collaborative zine.
