Code & Create: 3D Printing Adventures!
Grade Level: 1st - 5th
Tuesdays at 11 AM
Unlock the magic of turning computer code into real plastic objects! Designed specifically for young learners in grades 1–5, this course blends computer science with hands-on manufacturing. Students use BlocksCAD to snap visual code blocks together to build unique digital models. Along the way, they naturally master essential math concepts like geometry, symmetry, and logic. Finally, they learn to slice their designs and watch them print live on a 3D printer. Every child designs, codes, and takes home their own custom-printed creation!
4-Week Class Breakdown
- Week 1: Blocks & Shapes
- Learn to navigate the 3D design grid.
- Snap code blocks together to make spheres, cubes, and text.
- To make a name tag
- Week 2: Move & Transform
- Use code to slide, rotate, and resize shapes.
- Design a personalized, custom-coded backpack charm.
- Week 3: Code Logic & Combining
- Glue shapes together or carve holes using Boolean logic.
- Build complex structures like a castle or a rocket ship.
- Week 4: Slicing & Printing
- Convert block code into 3D printer instructions.
- Watch the 3D printers run and collect final projects.
