Intro to Fashion

`

Grades: 9th to 12th

Description

The One-Day Intro to Fashion Workshop with Gregory Nato gives high school students a hands-on introduction to the fashion design process. Over the course of four hours, students will explore career paths in the fashion industry, learn how designers find inspiration, and practice the basic drawing skills used to bring ideas to life.

Through a mix of short lectures, demonstrations, and independent studio time, students will:

  • Learn about different roles in fashion and gain an understanding of markets from couture to fast fashion.
  • Explore sources of inspiration such as art, nature, and current events.
  • Practice croquis sketching and the 10-head fashion figure.
  • Create their own 3-piece swimwear collection, complete with sketches, renderings, color swatches, and a mood board.

The workshop concludes with a group critique, where students present their work and receive peer and instructor feedback. No prior fashion experience is required — just curiosity, creativity, and a passion for design.
