Description
Robotics Description 2022/2023
VEX Robotics is offered for PYP and MYP grades 4 and up. Robotics is a different afterschool program. It is not a club but a team competition. When you sign up for robotics at the start of the school year, you are in robotics for the entire year. There are no quarterly sign ups. Therefore, you are committing to robotics for the entire year.
What we do on a VEX Robotics team:
1. Have fun designing robots by creating a way to score as many points as possible on the yearly challenge.
2. Come to at least one of the two robotics meetings afterschool on Wednesdays and Thursdays. These two days will be for both MYP and PYP to allow students more time to design and build robots.
3. Make tournaments days, which take place on Saturdays. These are usually from around 7:30am until around 3:30pm.
4. Make a few Saturday build days to prepare for tournaments.
What we don’t do on a VEX Robotics team:
1. Afterschool meetings are for designing, building, programming, and practicing. The parts for building robots are not to be used as toys.
2. This is not recess time. Our goals are to have fun, compete at tournaments, try and make both state and world tournaments.
One of the biggest commitments is making tournaments on Saturdays. Just like with any sports team, your robotics team is counting on you to be at tournaments and not leaving your teammates shorthanded.
If this sounds like something you would like to do, then sign up for exciting robotics action!
