Current Class Project:

Viewpoints

Viewpoints is a 3 week project starting the week of Sept 30th through October 14th.

Students will kick off this project by reading a book centered on the theme of perspective before being invited to consider their own perspectives via writing an "I am from" poem. Then students will illustrate self-portraits including elements of their poems.

Students will explore a perspective book before being challenged to illustrate a common scene (a birthday party) from a novel perspective (the point of view of the balloon, the cake, etc). We will guess which is which. With extra time, we will attempt illustrations conjured by suggestions on tabs stating scenarios and points of view.

Last, we will go over a final perspective book (slideshow for older group) and then a game of "What else could it be?" Older students will try the "paper clip challenge" and both age groups will partner up for a game of shape interpretation. Later we will create images reacting to the game.
