About ProjectArt

ProjectArt offers free art classes for students ages 4-18 throughout the school year, from September to May. Local, professional artists teach classes aligned with the National Arts Education Association standards and are informed by the teaching artist's personal artistic practice. ProjectArt classes are fun, imaginative, and cultivate a love of learning.

Materials are provided for all students. Enrollment is ongoing throughout the year.

Current Class Project: An Accordion Book About Me

An Accordion Book About Me is a three-week project going from the week of February 24th through the week of March 10th.

Students will create an accordion book which will serve as a brief introduction to themselves. Accordions books will be created using a variety of collage materials, such as found papers, magazine clippings, yarn, and other found materials. Students will see examples of how artists borrow or use found images (Pop Art, Surrealism, collage), as well as how text can be an artistic element (Jasper Johns, Pop Art). The goal is for students to not randomly find materials, but rather choose and arrange images which speak to themselves as individuals.
