About ProjectArt

ProjectArt offers free art classes for students ages 4-18 throughout the school year, from September to May. Local, professional artists teach classes aligned with the National Arts Education Association standards and are informed by the teaching artist's personal artistic practice. ProjectArt classes are fun, imaginative, and cultivate a love of learning.

Materials are provided for all students.

Enrollment is ongoing throughout the year.

Current Class Activity: Music in the Making

Music in the Making is a four week project going from the week of September 21st to November 17th.

Inspired by synesthesia (one of the five senses responding uniquely to another), students will explore the many ways music can inspire artwork creation. By exploring the expressionist period, different eras of music, and the relationship between musicians and their instruments of choice, students will explore the many ways that music can influence artmaking. Each week, students will explore a different movement, era, and/or culture of music and respond with gestural sketches, drawings, and paintings. Students will be encouraged to "create in time with the music" and channel synesthetic abilities to visualize the different sounds they hear, implementing library resources and books to extend their research.
