About ProjectArt

ProjectArt offers free art classes for students ages 4-18 throughout the school year from September to May. Local, professional artists teach classes aligned with the National Arts Education Association standards and are informed by the teaching artist's personal artistic practice. ProjectArt classes are fun, imaginative, and cultivate a love of learning.

Materials are provided for all students. Enrollment is ongoing throughout the year.

Current Class Project: Dimensions

Dimensions is a three-week project going from the week of February 24th through the week of March 10th.

This project takes the foundations of clay sculptures + new techniques and merges them with local art history. Students will explore dimensions. They'll use air dry clay and learn the necessary techniques to refine their work. Through peer to peer collaboration, across ages, students will work together to make sure each student (regardless of age) can convey their desired design with clay. The history of sculpture will be explored with a presentation on local sculptor, Olayami Dabls - the creator of the MBAD African Bead Museum.
