About ProjectArt

ProjectArt offers free art classes for students ages 4-18 throughout the school year, from September to May. Local, professional artists teach classes aligned with the National Arts Education Association standards and are informed by the teaching artist's personal artistic practice. ProjectArt classes are fun, imaginative, and cultivate a love of learning.

Materials are provided for all students. Enrollment is ongoing throughout the year if space allows.

Current Class Project: Symmetry & Balance

Symmetry and Balance is a three-week project running from the week of February 24th through the week of March 10th.

This project is comprised of 3 mini lessons that help to teach students about symmetrical balance in art. Students will explore different versions of true symmetry in each lesson. In lesson 1, symmetrical butterfly!, students will be introduced to the topic of symmetry and make a symmetrical butterfly using pencils, paper and paint. In lesson 2, color pop collage, students will use symmetry to make a collage utilizing construction paper, crayons, colored pencils and tissue paper. In lesson 3, radial symmetry tiles, students will learn about radial symmetry through the design and construction of a printed tile.
