About ProjectArt

ProjectArt’s free classes run from September - May. Materials are provided for all students ages 4-18. Local, professional artists teach classes aligned with the National Arts Education Association standards and are informed by the teaching artist's creative practice. ProjectArt classes are fun, imaginative and cultivate a love of learning.

Current Project

3D Primer: Form Follows Function

This project begins November 20 and ends December 11

The goal of this project is to introduce the students to 3D media and spatial thinking in their work, get students noticing the relationship between form and function, and to think creatively (and even break some rules!) about how different materials can be used to make art. Basic 3D composition and mechanics for making functional / standing objects will be covered. Students will be asked to think creatively to use materials in unconventional ways (using paper to make 3D objects, using found materials for texture, etc). Sculptor Louise Nevelson and origami art will be introduced. Air-dry clay, paper, cardboard, found objects will be introduced as media. Paint & adhesives will also be used.
