Current Project

Ceramic Vessels: Functional and Figurative

This project begins Jan 7th and Ends Feb 15th

Students will explore the artform of ceramic clay. Students will learn about various ceramic techniques such as coiling, pinching, and hand building. Students will view examples of ceramic art and learn the difference between utilitarian ceramic art and artistic ceramic art. Students will have the opportunity to explore both art practices and will conclude this class section with a pinch pot, a coil pot, a slab pot, and various hand-built forms. During this class section students will also be challenged to use their imagination and creativity to build ceramic flowerpots that are shaped like a head. Students will utilize their problem-solving skills as well as the techniques that they learn in class to create their final projects.
