Description

In this collaborative workshop, we’ll explore how everyday discarded materials—cardboard, bottle caps, textiles, and other odds and ends—can be transformed through imagination and shared creativity. Rather than crafting alone, we’ll work together to build a collective “library” of facial features: dozens of unique eyes, ears, noses, and other elements made from recycled materials.
When it’s time to create your own self-portrait, you’ll select from this shared pool of parts to assemble a face that reflects you. Along the way, we’ll play with the idea that nothing is truly finished, broken, or without value—including ourselves. Through upcycling and collaboration, this process invites us to see potential where we might once have seen scraps.
Teaching Art Bio: Kennedy Hall (she/they) is a visual artist and educator from Annapolis, Maryland. Growing up in and around Washington, D.C., she developed a deep passion for connecting with local communities and learning through conversation and storytelling. Kennedy views art as an intuitive force that bridges the gap between community and self, empowering individuals to become active participants in their own creative processes. As a program coordinator for our community partners, Kennedy centers trauma-informed care and freedom of expression across all aspects of her work.
