Description
Class Description
Join educators from the Hirshhorn Art School for a collaborative art-making adventure inspired by artist Mark Bradford’s Pickett’s Charge (2017), a monumental artwork stretching nearly the length of a football field and installed inside the Hirshhorn Museum. Bradford is known for transforming everyday materials—posters, paper, and layered surfaces—into powerful works that explore history, memory, and the stories embedded in our communities.
Using Bradford’s process as inspiration, participants will reflect on their own important memories and experiences. Together, we’ll experiment with layering, tearing, and assembling materials to create a large collaborative artwork that reflects the many stories, perspectives, and identities that shape our communities. This workshop invites families to think about how personal memories connect to larger histories—and how art can bring those layers together in one shared piece.
