Optimism Days at Nelson Academy

Project Optimism invites your student to join our Optimism Days – Leadership Workshop Series, a fun and interactive experience designed to help young people discover their strengths and grow as confident, compassionate leaders.

These one-hour sessions take place right after school, one of the most important times of day for students. The first hour after school can strongly shape a student’s focus, emotions, and choices. This program provides a positive and structured environment that helps students unwind, connect with peers, and build essential life skills in a supportive space.

Over the course of eight weeks, students will:

• Recognize their personal strengths and values as leaders
• Practice effective communication, teamwork, and active listening
• Learn to lead with empathy, confidence, and integrity
• Develop strategies for goal-setting, problem-solving, and positive decision-making

Our mentors create a safe, uplifting atmosphere where students feel seen, supported, and motivated to make a difference. By the end of the 8 weeks, students will leave with stronger confidence, leadership tools, and a renewed sense of optimism that carries beyond the classroom.
