About Project Optimism Mentoring Sessions (POMS):
POMS is a school-based mentorship program designed to empower students through consistent and meaningful connections with positive role models.
Grounded in representation and relationship-building, students are paired with mentors who understand and reflect their lived experiences.
Through weekly after-school sessions, students participate in activities focused on:
- Peer bonding and friendship
- Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)
- Life skills for school and beyond
Students also receive additional check-ins during the school day to support their academics, and personal growth. In addition, our program prioritizes family and community connections by hosting events that celebrate student progress, strengthen family engagement, and build a strong sense of belonging.
Our goal is to walk alongside students and families, helping each child grow with confidence, joy, and optimism.
