Description

Our continued exploration of African American and Indigenous culture will sour through Sawari, or explore, in our camp language of Yaruba. Youth will have opportunities through our daily activities, special programs, and field trips to explore themselves, their environment, their culture, and their city. Through partnerships with some of the cities leading artists and groups, youth will explore multiple dance forms that are important components of the African-American Experience.. Youth will explore science, arts, and history with educators that will use standard aligned lessons. Youth will have a chance to explore inwards and further define themselves with activities designed to bolster self esteem and self-pride. We will become creators in our recently revitalized art and creators space that features 3d and textile printing. We will continue to build on our daily affirmations, and I AM curriculum activities as well as all the fun things that make summer camp fun with weekly take home projects. Breakfast and Lunch are provided in partnership with the Food Bank Summer Food Program, with an additional snack provided as youth depart.
