Claymation

Session Dates: September 14th - December 17th (13 Weeks)

Grades: 3rd - 12th

`

Grades: 3rd to 6th

Description

In this creative claymation lab, students will develop an original story and take a short stop-motion film through the complete creative process — from character concept and sketching to clay sculpting, set design, animation, editing, and final screening.

What Students Will Learn:

  • Story development and scriptwriting
  • Character and set design using clay and mixed materials
  • Stop-motion animation and frame-by-frame movement
  • Lighting, camera angles, and basic set staging
  • Digital editing, sound effects, and music syncing
  • Hands-on tools: stop-motion animation software and digital cameras/tablets
  • Iterative problem-solving through trial, error, and revision
  • Collaboration and creative feedback in a group setting

By the end of the course, each student will have their very own short animated film — something they wrote, built, and brought to life frame by frame, start to finish. We'll wrap up with a screening of everyone's finished films, giving students a chance to see their creativity on screen and share the story behind how they made it.
