Description
Digital Game Development with Construct 3 & A.I.
In this two-part session, students design and build two original video games using Construct 3, a Block Blast–style puzzle game and a Pac-Man–style maze chase game, while exploring the game design concepts and artificial intelligence (A.I.) systems that shape how players experience games.
What Students Will Learn:
- Puzzle game design fundamentals, including grid-based systems and spatial reasoning
- Pattern recognition and pattern-based mechanics
- Maze chase game mechanics, including pathfinding and tilemap systems
- Collision events, game logic, and intentional level design
- Introduction to Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) concepts in video games
- Hands-on game development using Construct 3
- Real-world A.I. recognition through gameplay of Pac-Man, the genre-defining maze chase game
- Problem-solving through iterative design and testing
Course Conclusion:
By the end of the course, students will have designed and built two original games from the ground up, a puzzle game and a maze chase game, while gaining hands-on game development skills and a real understanding of how A.I. shapes the games they play every day.
