Description

This course introduces students to a professional digital-to-glass workflow that blends 3D scanning, modeling, additive manufacturing, secondary mold making, and supervised hot-glass production. Students design, fabricate, and realize original forms using industry-aligned tools while building technical literacy, safety awareness, and portfolio-ready documentation.


What students will learn:

  • 3D scanning techniques using the Kiri app
  • Digital modeling and cleanup in Blender
  • Additive manufacturing and mold-making processes
  • Supervised hot-glass production and safety practices
  • Documentation and portfolio development


By the end of the course, each student will complete one finished mold-blown glass object suitable for exhibition or portfolio use, along with a 3D scan file generated using the Kiri app and a modified or cleaned digital model prepared in Blender. Students will also produce photo documentation of their mold, process, and finished glass piece, and submit a short written reflection describing their design intent, process, and outcome.
