Description

This three-hour Transitional Kindergarten (TK)/Kindergarten program is designed to bridge the gap between preschool and kindergarten, providing a developmentally appropriate and engaging learning environment for children typically four to five years old (six years old welcome). Aligned with the California Preschool Learning Foundations and the California Kindergarten Content Standards, this program fosters growth in key areas, preparing students for success in kindergarten and beyond.


Class meets twice per week from 9:00 AM to 12 Noon

Days: Tuesdays and Thursdays

Duration: 16 Weeks

First Day: August 26, 2025

Last Day: December 18, 2025

Cost: $400/month or $1,600/Semester

$25 Registration Fee will reserve your seat.

Program Goals:

  • Social-Emotional Development: Children will develop self-regulation skills, build positive relationships with peers and adults, learn to cooperate and share, and develop a strong sense of self. Emphasis will be placed on emotional literacy, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
  • Language and Literacy Development: Children will be immersed in a language-rich environment, developing listening and speaking skills, expanding vocabulary, exploring print concepts, and building phonological awareness. Activities will include read-alouds, storytelling, dramatic play, and pre-writing experiences.
  • Mathematics Development: Children will explore mathematical concepts through hands-on activities, games, and manipulatives. Focus areas include number recognition, counting, patterns, shapes, spatial reasoning, and measurement.
  • Physical Development: Children will develop gross and fine motor skills through active play, movement, and creative expression. Opportunities for outdoor play and exploration will be provided.
  • Creative Expression: Children will engage in a variety of art, music, and dramatic play activities, fostering creativity, imagination, and self-expression.
  • Cognitive Development: Students will develop critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and a love of learning through inquiry-based activities and exploration.


Sample Daily Schedule:

  • Welcome & Circle Time (20 minutes): Greeting songs, calendar activities, weather discussion, and introduction to the day's learning focus.
  • Language & Literacy Activities (25 minutes): Read-alouds, shared reading, storytelling, phonological awareness activities, and pre-writing experiences.
  • Math Activities (25 minutes): Hands-on math games, number recognition, counting activities, shape exploration, and problem-solving.
  • Outdoor Play/Movement (25 minutes): Gross motor activities, organized games, free play, and exploration of the natural environment.
  • Creative Expression (30 minutes): Art projects, music and movement, dramatic play, and creative exploration.
  • Snack & Social Skills (15 minutes): Healthy snack (parent provided), conversation, and focus on social skills such as sharing and taking turns.
  • Wrap-up & Story Time (15 minutes): Review of the day's learning, songs, and a closing story.


Assessment:

Ongoing observation and assessment will track each student's progress and inform instruction. The leader will utilize various methods, including anecdotal notes, checklists, and portfolios, to document students' learning and development.


Parent Involvement:

Parent communication and involvement are highly valued. Regular newsletters, parent-teacher/leader conferences, and opportunities for classroom participation will be provided.

This TK program provides a nurturing and stimulating environment where children can develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed in kindergarten and beyond. We believe that learning should be fun and engaging, and we strive to create a positive and supportive environment and community where every child can thrive.


Paying with Charter Funds: Option 1- Pay the Registration Fee out-of-pocket. Option 2- Register after Charter Funds become available and Certificate is submitted.
