Families of Mentees with IEPs and 504 Plans are invited to Your Diverse Learner Part II, an informative and empowering event designed to help you confidently navigate special education supports from middle school through the transition to college.
Special guests who are SPED experts and professionals will break down how to get the IEP or 504 process started, what families can expect, and how to effectively advocate for appropriate accommodations and services.
We will also provide clear guidance on Manifestation Determination Reviews (MDRs) and behavior-related meetings—explaining your rights, the school’s responsibilities, and strategies for ensuring decisions remain fair, supportive, and student-centered.
The event will conclude with a focused discussion on transition planning for college, including documentation needs, differences between K–12 and postsecondary supports, and how to prepare students to self-advocate in higher education settings.
Your Diverse Learner is a welcoming space to ask questions, build knowledge, and strengthen your advocacy skills—so every student receives the support they deserve to thrive academically and beyond.
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT TRANSPORTATION:
Only mentee pick up will be provided for this event. Guardians must attend and provide transportation home.
