Guardians of the Garden is a hands-on land stewardship and gardening club for students in grades K–8 that teaches practical, real-world food production skills through orchard planning and in-ground gardening. Using a structured, safety-first approach, students build confidence as they learn how to read land, plan plantings, work with soil, and care for living systems while creating gardens and orchards that will continue growing long after the club ends. The club emphasizes patience, responsibility, long-term thinking, and stewardship—helping students understand how food systems are designed, planted, and sustained.
Over six weeks, students progress from foundational land skills to planting permanent and seasonal crops and finish with a Living Systems Showcase, where they present their plans, plantings, and take-home growth projects.
