Stitch and Serve

Description

Stitch & Serve is a hands-on sewing club for students in grades 4–8 that teaches practical,

real-world skills through both hand sewing and sewing machines. Using a structured,

safety-first approach, students build confidence as they learn to plan projects, work with

precision, and take responsibility for tools while creating durable, useful items they can

actually use at home. The club emphasizes patience, persistence, and a repair

mindset—helping students understand how to fix, improve, and create stitched items. Over

six weeks, students progress from foundational skills to machine sewing and finish with a

“Made-to-Last” exhibition, where they proudly showcase their work and demonstrate the

skills they’ve mastered.
