Description
The Leadership Program develops young leaders through hands-on training, personal growth, and community engagement. Participants gain essential workforce, financial, and leadership skills while preparing to lead and work in YEA’s summer and year-round youth programs.
Program Overview
Phase 1: Orientation & Retreat July & December, 2026
Team building, Youth Thrive 4 Youth core principles, leadership identity3-day retreat including group activities, goal setting, and service planning
Phase 2: Leadership Development Series January–May 2026
Monthly learning & skill-building sessions Topics include communication, financial literacy, professionalism, and leadership ethics
Phase 3: Applied Leadership & Employment June–August 2026
Summer camp counselor & program leadership roles Paid summer employment at YEA camps and partner sites if complete the necessary trainings.
Phase 4: Ongoing Mentorship & Community Impact September–December 2026
Continued learning and community leadership, Monthly service projects, youth-led events, and mentoring incoming cohorts.
Leaders will gain
- Demonstrate leadership and teamwork skills.
- Develop confidence in public speaking and decision-making.
- Gain certifications and paid work experience.
- Create a professional portfolio for employment or continued education.
- Serve as mentors for future cohorts.
