At YouthPlaces, we believe every young person deserves a safe, inspiring space where they can imagine, explore, and design their own futures. Our vision is for all youth to transition into happy, healthy, and dynamic adults, unlocking their full potential by connecting their passions to real opportunities that shape their futures.

Our afterschool program is built on the Hobbies 2 Opportunities model, which transforms everyday interests into meaningful pathways for personal growth and career exploration. Whether a student is drawn to sports, arts, technology, or leadership, we help them see those hobbies as starting points that can lead to broader opportunities in education, employment, and life.

We bring this to life through our See, Learn, Do approach:

• See – Youth are introduced to new ideas, experiences, and role models who spark curiosity and inspire them to think bigger.
• Learn – They gain practical knowledge and hands-on skills that help connect their passions with future possibilities.
• Do – Finally, they put what they’ve learned into action through projects, performances, and real-world applications that build confidence and open doors.

Our programming is offered across four core service areas:

• YP Plays – Active, engaging opportunities that keep youth moving, healthy, and connected through sports and recreation.
• YP Learns – Academic support and skill-building that strengthen confidence in the classroom and beyond.
• YP Futures – Career exploration, mentorship, and workforce development that prepare youth for success in college and the workplace.
• YP SELF – Social-emotional learning and wellness supports that build resilience, leadership, and self-awareness.

Together, these service areas create a holistic afterschool experience where young people don’t just spend time—they discover who they are, what they love, and how they can shape their future.
