Skills & Teaching Methods

Alpha’s Brownsville campus offers an educational experience designed to inspire and motivate kids to be limitless. At Alpha, we believe that students who love school work harder, step outside their comfort zones, connect with peers, and take ownership of their learning and future. Alpha Quest is our engaging after-school enrichment program, open to the community, designed to provide hands-on experiences that combine creativity, movement, critical thinking, and skill-building all within a joyful, student-centered environment.

🎨 Activity Descriptions:

Chess

As part of the Alpha Quest Chess Team, students sharpen their strategic thinking through engaging games, drills, and mini tournaments. With a focus on patience and foresight, students will build confidence while preparing for friendly competitions with Silver Knights Chess Academy.

Park & Playground

Students will get outside to move, explore, and recharge through supervised play, team games, and imaginative group challenges in a structured but flexible outdoor setting. Bubbles, chalk, and playground play are huge requests from students.

Spanish Cooking

Students will become chefs while practicing Spanish vocabulary through immersive, hands-on cooking lessons. Each week, they’ll prepare delicious dishes while learning food-related phrases and cultural context in a fun, supportive bilingual environment.

Dance & Choreography

From high-energy warmups to expressive routines, students will learn dance techniques and build choreography as a team. This class builds confidence, coordination, rhythm, and stage presence in an encouraging space.

Reybotics Robotics & VR

Students will design, build, and program robots while exploring problem-solving through virtual reality environments. With challenges like maze navigation and interactive tasks, each session fosters creativity, persistence, and tech literacy.

Work-It-Out Wednesday

Students will participate in team-based challenges, games, and competitions that build teamwork, grit, and cooperation all while promoting positive social interaction and stress relief.

Music & Singing

This musical experience blends vocal technique, rhythm games, and group singing to help students find their voices. With opportunities to explore harmony, pitch, and creative expression, students will build confidence and musicality.

Football

Students will practice football fundamentals while engaging in dynamic drills and plays on the field. Emphasis is on sportsmanship, movement, and having fun.

Taekwondo

Led by a certified instructor, students will learn martial arts basics including forms, focus, and discipline. This empowering activity builds strength, confidence, and self-control through structured training and technique.

Creator’s Corner / Fun Friday

On Fridays, students dive into a rotating mix of creative, tactile, and open-ended activities. Whether it’s building, painting, crafting, inventing, or playing collaborative games, students choose how they create and explore with optional weekly themes and challenges.
