Description

This free program is open to students in grades 5–7, providing a safe, structured, and engaging environment after the school day. Daily transportation home is provided for all registered participants.

Each afternoon, students will enjoy a balance of structured activities and opportunities to unwind. The program includes:

Quiet Time – Students will have dedicated time each day to relax, read, or receive homework support, allowing them to transition from the school day in a positive and productive way.

Physical Activity – Indoor and outdoor recreation encourages healthy lifestyles, teamwork, and active play.

Creative & Social Activities – Students may participate in arts and crafts, board games, puzzles, STEM activities, and other hands-on enrichment opportunities designed to foster creativity, problem-solving, and friendships.

Daily Schedule & Transportation

Students will report directly to the Apex AfterCare room immediately following the final school dismissal. Transportation home begins at 5:00 PM. Depending on the transportation route, families should expect their child to arrive home between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM.

On Early Release Days, programming will operate from 12:50 PM (school dismissal) until 5:00 PM.

Electronics Policy

To encourage engagement, social interaction, and meaningful participation, personal electronic devices are not permitted during program hours. This includes:

* Cell phones * Laptops and tablets * Video games * Online platforms such as YouTube, Roblox, and similar applications

Students may use their phones only with staff permission to communicate with a parent or guardian when necessary.

Early Release & School Vacation Programming

We're especially excited about our Early Release Day and school vacation programming. These special days may include field trips to local destinations, including Apex Youth Connection at 45 Granite Street, along with additional community adventures and hands-on activities.

Many of these experiences also provide opportunities for students to participate in Apex's Earn-a-Bike program, where youth can work toward earning their own bicycle through active participation, responsibility, and community involvement. Apex and AfterCare combine our field trips where the youth can go to the Maine Mall, Nature Explorers, Lego Robotics-Battle Bots, 3D printing, Youth Council and more

Program Calendar

Apex AfterCare follows the school district calendar. The program will **not** operate on:

* Scheduled no-school days

* Emergency school closures

* Weather-related school cancellations

* Days when after-school activities are canceled by the school district
