BNE Virtual Afterschool-Fall Session 2024

Description

Our after-school program is designed to provide a holistic approach to youth development, combining academic support, social-emotional learning, and family engagement. Led by an experienced teacher and mental health counselor(s), our sessions are structured to foster personal growth and community among participants.

Each session consists of the following components:

• Butterfly Talk Circle: A safe space for students to share their thoughts and feelings, promoting open communication and emotional expression.
• Mindfulness Practice: Techniques to help students manage stress, improve focus, and enhance emotional regulation.
• SEL Activity: Social-emotional learning activities that build skills such as empathy, cooperation, and self-awareness.
• Reflection: Time for journaling and discussions to reinforce learning and self-reflection.
• Mentoring on Thursdays: One-on-one or group mentoring sessions to provide guidance, support, and role modeling.

In addition to these activities, we offer parenting workshops to equip parents with the tools and strategies needed to support their child's development. These workshops are an essential part of the program, as we believe that positive change in a child's life begins with a strong and supportive family unit.

Our parent and family engagement activities, such as family outings and workshops (both in-person and virtual), are designed to create a supportive community and foster deeper connections. Attendance at these events is required for parents, ensuring that the entire family is involved in the child's growth and development journey.

By integrating these elements, our after-school program aims to create a nurturing environment where children and their families can thrive together.
