Description
Titans Robotics Program (Ages 13–18)
MYTT Titans Robotics Program is an advanced, hands-on STEM program for students ages 13–18 who are ready to engage in real-world engineering and computer science challenges. Using VEX EXP and VEX V5 (along with comparable robotics platforms), students design, build, wire, and program competition-level robots while applying industry-aligned engineering practices.
This program mirrors professional engineering environments. Students work in teams to manage projects from concept to completion, including design planning, prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, and refinement. Instruction emphasizes technical skill development, accountability, and problem-solving under constraints such as time, materials, and performance requirements.
Titans Robotics prepares students for high school robotics competitions, postsecondary STEM pathways, and careers in engineering, technology, and skilled trades.
What Students Will Learn
Advanced Robotics & Mechanical Engineering
- Design and build complex robotic systems using metal structures, drivetrains, lifts, and manipulators
- Apply principles of torque, speed, load distribution, and mechanical efficiency
- Safely use tools and hardware for assembly and maintenance
Programming & Software Development
- Program robots using block-based and text-based languages (including Python and C++)
- Develop autonomous and driver-controlled programs
- Use sensors, feedback loops, and logic to improve precision and reliability
Electrical Systems & Controls
- Wire motors, sensors, controllers, and power systems
- Understand electrical safety and system troubleshooting
- Manage power distribution and component organization
Engineering Design & Project Management
- Follow the full engineering design process from problem definition to final solution
- Read and create design sketches and build documentation
- Manage timelines, roles, and iterative improvements
Data Analysis & Testing
- Collect and analyze performance data
- Adjust mechanical and programming choices based on results
- Evaluate trade-offs between speed, strength, accuracy, and durability
Teamwork, Leadership & Communication
- Work in structured teams with technical and leadership roles
- Lead build, programming, or strategy subgroups
- Present designs, explain decisions, and document progress
Career & College Readiness
- Explore STEM careers in engineering, robotics, manufacturing, and technology
- Build portfolios of completed projects and competition experience
- Develop problem-solving, persistence, and professional conduct
